Some inside sources have indicated that Best Buy is going to discontinue the 80GB version of the Sony PS3, which is the only current version to have backwards compatibility. The 40GB PS3 is the most affordable at $400, and the White PS3 is slated for US release, but the future is uncertain for the 80GB Version. Check the note after the break.

Some recent info on the FCC website reveals that the much anticipated White Sony PS3 will be coming to US shores soon. It’ll feature a matching white sixaxis controller and a 40GB hard drive. The slick white glossy shell is likely to be more appealing than the current black shell.

Supposedly, Activision is putting legal pressure on Sony to keep them from releasing the patch that was supposed to release last week that allows the Gibson Les Paul Guitar Controller for Guitar Hero III for PS3 to function with Rock Band. This move will unlikely be any help for them sell more copies of Guitar Hero III, rather it might just boost Rock Band peripheral sales, namely the Fender Stratocaster controllers for Rock Band. Rock Band sells for $170, and it seems like it’s the better of the two games anyway.
