Warwick Light from Sony Computer Entertainment in New Zealand revealed that Sony will release a digital tuner for the Playstation 3, which would turn it into a programmable TV recorder or a DVR. Stay tuned for more updates.

GameTrailers provides us with a new trailer of WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2008. The game will be available for Sony PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The release date is still unknown.

The 1.90 Firmware update has just hit Japanese Sony PlayStation 3. The US’ Playstation Blog reports that firmware 1.90 will be available to download in the next few days. The new firmware brings several new features. Here are the complete changes.

• Ability to rearrange games on the XMB
• Option menu now includes “eject disk”
• Press triangle to eject games/CDs/movies in the XMB
• XMB backgrounds
• Change the folder classification
• Emoticons
• Change CD output to 44.1/88.2/176.4kHz
• Force 24Hz output for Blu-ray over HDMI
• Change PS3 video settings in-game
• “Bit Mapping” in the “Music Setting”
• Save AVCHD type animations from a Memory Stick
• Change settings like upscaling while playing PS and PS2 games
• Add bookmarks
• Web browser security function in the browser’s tool section
• Avatar moves during audio visual chat

According to Reuters, Capcom’s CFO Kazuhiko Abe predicted a price cut for the PS3 just in time for the holidays. The Playstation 3 has been faltering in sales in comparison to the Nintendo Wii and XBox 360, largely do to its larger than life price. Considering that Sony is already losing money on each unit sold, this price cut brings Sony’s profit margin on the PS3 even deeper in the red. The good news is that some awesome games are scheduled to release on the Playstation 3 soon, but will it be enough (with the price cut) to put Sony on the forefront again? Either way, that thing is way too expensive and needs a price cut. This is awesome news for consumers who don’t give a crap about the XBox 360 and can’t find a Wii to save their life.
