Envizions EVO Smart Console

Envizions offers a spanking new console for the mass market. Known as the EVO Smart Console, it is powered by an AMD Athlon 64×2 5600 2.4GHz processor, ATI HD 3200 graphics processor, 2GB DDR2 RAM, supports H.264 VC1, MPEG2 video codecs, DVI and HDMI connectivity, 120GB hard drive, and CD/DVD ROM and integrated biometric scanner. This open-source console also comes with a Fedora-based Linux distro that offers game play, Internet access, VoIP communications and HD video playback. The gadget is also compatible with Envizions “cloud” computing service, where users can browse Amiga-based games and an Akimbo-based VOD (video on demand) service. The beta shipment for developers will release next week with a 100 units available. You can pre-order the EVO Smart console for $380 each. [Ubergizmo]

Multi Platform Portable Gaming Entertainment Station

Here’s another cool retro portable gaming system from Chinavasion, the Multi Platform Portable Gaming Entertainment Station. The device is capable of handling ROMs from NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, Neo-Geo and selected Capcom arcade systems, as well as popular multimedia formats like WMVs, AVIs, MPEGs and of course MP3s. It has a 2.8-inch LCD screen with 320×240 resolution, 4GB of built-in memory, a miniSD memory card slot and an AV-out hookup that supports both NTSC or PAL in 16:9 or 4:3. Zeebo Inexpensive Gaming Console

Zeebo has joined with Qualcomm to designed a new gaming console for emerging markets. The gadget features 3G wireless and will be launched in Brazil next month. Priced at only $200, the Zeebo system will come pre-loaded with four games, with the ability to download a fifth title for free. The games are stored in flash memory with a capacity to hold about 50 games on the machine at a time. [Physorg]

id Software’s head honcho, John Carmach has just released an open source port of Wolfenstein 3D for the iPhone and best of all, it’s free. Apart from a few tweaks on the game, it’s largely the same Wolfenstein 3D that id released in 1992. Just remember to jailbreak your iPhone first before you can play the game. [Ubergizmo]

KarmaStar Game for iPhone and iPod Touch

Majesco Entertainment has recently introduced KarmaStar for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It is a strategy game that lasts about 10 minutes. The game supports different paths to victory. Blaze has relaunched the Sega Mega Drive, one of the most fondly-remembered consoles of the past. The system comes packed with two control pads, 15 pre-loaded games including Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Alex Kidd, Sonic and Knuckles and a cartridge slot that enables you to play original Gen/MD games from all regions.
