Monoliths John O’Roke informed that the upcoming FPS FEAR 2, a.k.a. Project Origin, will not support the new Direct X version. However, he adds that they’ve achieved what they were looking for visually by using the existing, and much more popular, DirectX 9. O’roke also notes that DX11 and GPGPU API’s like Nvidia’s CUDA have a lot of potential for future games. For your info, Direct X 10 has had a horrible track record and adoption rate. It’s only available on Vista, which hasn’t been the biggest success in terms of operating systems. [DigitalBattle]

Project Origin is the much awaited sequel of F.E.A.R. One cool addition to the game is the ability to pilot mech suit at occasions. Imagine kicking some monster’s axxes with your robot foot. We got the chance to try the demo, and it’s still as creepy and intense as hell. The game begins with Michael, the main character, waking up in an underground metro. Equipped with only rifle, you will begin to find your way upstairs. In the land infested with evil, you may not want to be quite content with that rifle, i tell you that. Expect some bloody gore. No exact release has been scheduled. But the game will come out somewhere in Q4 2008. [GAMESPOT]
