World of Warcraft Expansion: Wrath Of The Lich King

Prior to WoW, no MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) game had ever hit subscribers by the number of millions, even competing MMO games like Ultima Online and EverQuest. World of Warcraft had currently surpassed 4 million paying users and now has more than 10 million worldwide. The Wrath of the Lich King will be second major WoW expansion, after the first, WoW: The Burning Crusade which has sold for millions of copies. “The Lich King” is currently still in beta testing, although for now, participation in the beta is only available to players with active Burning Crusade accounts, and even then, the betas are still only distributed to the selected few. We do hope within a few months the expansion will launch and be available to the general public as reports from those who have played the beta version are largely positive, with almost no major concerns. Godfather The Sequel Sneak Peek

Godfather The Sequel

The new game expands on the story line spelled out in that earlier game. This time around, according to a release from EA, “After being promoted by Michael Corleone to don of New York, players expand to new cities, as they build up their families through extorting businesses, monopolizing illegal-crime rings, and defeating new families in an effort to become the most powerful mob family in America.” EA reveals the game setting will take place in Miami, Havana and New York, and described it as “Scarface meets Total War”. Six ‘classes’ have been confirmed for the game; bruiser, demolitions expert, arsonist, medic, safe cracker and engineer. Each character is said to have their own background and one of twelve different ‘personalities’. Godfather II is planned for release in February 2009. [CNET]

Live Your Own Destiny in Fable 2

Fable 2

Gamers will assume the role as a young man and here every choice continually defines who the man becomes, a hero, villain, or someone neutral, allowing you to truly live the life you choose. Lionhead has added several new features, including a canine companion, the ability to play as either man or woman, and getting involved in a more trivial activities (get married, have children, and more). For the first time in the “Fable” series, gamers can experience the expansive and immersible world of “Fable II” with friends, either on the same couch or over Xbox LIVE together in co-operative mode. Lionhead already set October 21 as North American launch date, UK release will follow on October 24. [GameSpot]

Prince of Persia 4 Preview

Prince of Persia

Most apparent is the brand new almost identical to cel-shaded art style in the game. The prince will have a new female companion, Elika. The details on the Prince and Elika are breathtaking. The goal in Prince of Persia is to help Elika revert the now-barren world to its lively state. The land is very grey and bleak, but when a guardian enemy is defeated, the rich and colorful landscape returns to the scene. Fights are now one-on-one with well-choreographed sequences in an almost cinematic experience. Prince of Persia will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this fall. Expect some feast for the eyes. [CNET] More »

Bikini Clad Zombie Slayer Goes to the U.S

Onechanbara

D3Publisher announced it is bringing Onechanbara™: Bikini Samurai Squad™ to the Xbox 360 in North America. The videogame features Aya and Saki, sisters with a passion for destroying zombies, as well as fashion for skimpy outfits, as they battle hordes of the undead in an effort to save their city. Expect gore and mangled bodies flying every directions, and some bared skin, probably lots of it. Set for release early next year, the game will arrive in the US at the same time as D3’s Wii installment in the series, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers. [TeamXbox]
